You Need Your Kidneys

Nephrology is a very specific part of medical biology that focuses on the kidneys. Although you can live without one of the two of them, they are very important for homeostasis. The Nephrology area of medicine and human biology is an area that is concerned with the internal workings and possible diseases which can affect the kidneys in the body. The body naturally has two kidneys that filter the blood. There's a wide range of substances which can affect the kidneys and they need to be looked after because although it is possible to live with just one of them, they are still very important to the body and living without one of them has some serious repercussions. The kidneys are responsible for getting rid of waste products in the body through a person's urine and controlling the substances in the body. The kidneys are also responsible for the blood pressure in the body because they control the levels of salt and water in the body at any given time. Nephrology also includes the medical area of kidney dialysis, which is a complicated process which many people rely on now. The kidneys are located in the lower back area and receive a constant supply of blood going through them so that the levels of water and salt in them can be measured and controlled. This is done through the process of osmosis which is a basic principle, stating that substances, if unopposed, will move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. This means that if the blood has a particularly high concentration of salt, then it will be taken out by the kidneys and disposed of in a person's urine. There are also other waste products which are created by the working muscles such as lactic acids and these things need to be taken out of the blood for the optimal performance of the body. If the kidneys detect high concentrations of these in the body, it will condition the urine so that a lot of it is not produced, it is very highly concentrated with waste products because this will even up the balance between the water and the salt in the body. The opposite is true if there isn't much salt present in the body, then the kidneys will produce a lot of urine, but it will have a very low concentration to get rid of all of unneeded fluids in the body and even up the balance in the opposite way. Kidney diseases in the area of Nephrology can be caused from people having a very bad diet, for example, eating too many fatty foods etc. kidney diseases often occurs in people who drink far more than the recommended amount of alcohol each week. bpcItzLX
